About PolyU

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has a proud and illustrious history dating back to 1937. Formerly known as The Hong Kong Polytechnic, we assumed full university status in 1994. PolyU is strategically located in Hung Hom, in the heart of the city, and our campus continues to grow with extensive development and rapid expansion in the last 10 years. PolyU offers a wide range of academic programmes which directly meet the industrial, commercial and community needs of the city and the region.

In addition to meeting Hong Kong's manpower requirements, we also make significant contributions towards the territory's success and enhance strong partnerships by providing an expanding range of consultancy, professional training and applied research services to both public and private sectors.

About SN

The School of Nursing of PolyU has been preparing outstanding students for challenging careers in nursing for more than three decades. The School (formerly known as the Department of Nursing and Health Sciences) was founded in 1977 and was Hong Kong's first tertiary educational institution to offer a degree programme in nursing. We launched:

  • the first Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Nursing programme in 1990,
  • the first Master of Science in Nursing programme in 1997
  • the first Pre-registration Master of Nursing programme for graduates from other disciplines in 2008
  • the first Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Mental Health Nursing programme in 2009
  • the first Master of Science in Mental Health Nursing programme in 2015

To facilitate teaching, demonstration and return-demonstration, our laboratories are equipped with state-of-the art facilities and furnished as hospital wards for nursing practice. As the first nursing school to introduce nursing therapeutics in Chinese medicine to nursing programmes in 2000, we set up a specialized laboratory, The Yuen Yuen Institute Chinese Medicinal Nursing Laboratory, designed for the study of traditional Chinese medicinal nursing.

In addition, many exchange students are impressed and inspired by the following facilities:

  • Herbal Medicine Learning Centre
  • Integrative Health Clinic
