Welcome Message from the Director of WHO Collaborating Centre for Community Health Services

On behalf of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre (WHO CC) for Community Health Services of the School of Nursing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), I am most delighted to welcome you to the Healthy Ageing Conference, which is hosted by us and co-organised by PolyU’s Research Institute for Smart Ageing.

This conference serves as a global platform for us to discuss ageing issues in different countries of the Western Pacific region and identify ways in which we can collectively contribute to the United Nations Decade of Healthy Ageing Initiative 2021-2030.

Designated by the WHO, the School’s WHO CC for Community Health Services is the FIRST and ONLY WHO CC on ageing in Asia and the Pacific. Since 2019, our mission has been assisting the WHO Western Pacific Region Office (WPRO) in rolling out the strategic initiatives on achieving healthy ageing. I cordially invite you to join this conference and work in concert with the WPRO and many other countries for this pursuit. I am sure that you will find the conference inspiring and fruitful. The conference will be held on 26-27 October and the pre-conference workshops on 25 October, 2023.

I look forward to meeting you and discussing issues of common concern in Hong Kong.

Welcome Message from the Co-Chairs of the Conference

Welcome to the Healthy Ageing Conference!

This conference provides a platform for dialogue, sharing of experience, networking, and discussing how to contribute to healthy ageing in the Western Pacific region among stakeholders.

Contemporary healthcare challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, have prompted many of us to rethink the current approaches and strategies that we have outlined in the pre-pandemic period. This could have implications on how we envision and define healthy ageing in the future.

Take this unique opportunity to join this conference to discuss, collaborate and critically connect the gaps with potential solutions addressing healthy ageing issues in our region and beyond.

We are looking forward to you joining us for this exciting event in Hong Kong.
